to go wrong / to break down / to become things uvcontrollable / to stop working properly

ex.

My CD player goes haywire every time my neighbor uses his cordless phone.

He arrives at work early, hoping to get a lot done, but within minutes things went haywire

I was talking Mary when suddenly the telephone went haywire.

I was driving to pune, when the car engine went haywire. It was two hours before the mechanic came.
