英会話：人のスキルや才能を表現するフレーズ

自分には何も自慢するような才能がにいと思っていても、他人から見ると素晴らしいスキルと見えるものを、誰でも一つは持っているハズ。

そんな才能や特技を表現するフレーズの例。

• To be good at …..
  
  She is good at swiming.
  
  My mom is good at cooking.
• He is a born dancer.
  
  第三者から見ると素晴らしいと感じる才能を当事者は何の苦も無くこなしているかに見える。
  
  日本語のニュアンスでは、”生まれながらの…..” というところ。
  
  “exceptionally good” と同義で、より自然な表現。
• Head & shoulders above …..
  
  誰かと比較して優れている点を褒める時に使う。(compare / superior)
  
  日本語のニュアンスだと、”頭一つ飛びぬけている” というところ。
  
  例
  
  例えば、職場で自分の上司が近づき、
  
  Hey, I want you to take care of this meeting, I want you to lead this meeting for me, because you are head shoulder above the rest in the team.
  
  と言った。
  
  同じ意味で、
  
  Hey, you are talented, you are skilled then the others. So, I’m choosing you.
  
  という直接的な表現よりも優れた表現。
• To be one of kind
  
  “unique（他に類を見ない）” “stand out（すぐれている）” といった意味。
  
  “You are unique.”
  
  という表現も出来るが、
  
  “You are one of kind.”
  
  の方がベターな表現。
• To do (something) in one’s sleep
  
  直訳すれば「寝てても出来る・no effort（effort – 努力）」という意味。
  
  例
  
  He can play music in his sleep.
• To have a magic toch
  
  magic torch – 魔法の松明
  
  “Deal with situation successfully” と同義
  
  例
  
  She dose have a magic torch.
• to have an eye for
  
  “ability to find good things” 、即ち、「良い鑑識眼を持っている・物を見る目がある」という意味。
  
  例
  
  She has an eye for amzing dresses or amzing clothes.
• To have a hidden talent
  
  何の取柄もなかったと思った人間が思いもよらない特技を持っていた時。
  
  例
  
  自分のPCが故障して、ニッチモサッチもいかなかったところ、その友達はアッという間に直してしまった。
  
  He has this hidden talent of fixing computers.
