国際線に搭乗すると、それが日本の航空会社でも機内の様々な案内は英語で行われます。
彼らは、一体、どんなフレーズを喋っているのでしょうか?
先ず、機内に案内されると扉のところで、
Hi, welcome aboard.
という言葉で歓迎してくれます。
機内で使われる言葉としては、
- Give Orders
- Make Requests
の二種類があり、特に「1.」の場合は、地上での日常生活では “命令形” でかなり強い語調になってしまいますが、これは各航空会社における規定を搭乗者に伝えるもので、例えば、”離陸・着陸時には席に座りベルトを締める” という安全上必須なものが該当します。
「1.」の例としては、
Sir, please sit down.
「2.」の例としては、
Sir, could you please sit down ?
といった具合になります。
離陸直前になっても、ヘッドホンで音楽を聞いていたり、ノートパソコンで操作している搭乗客がいた場合、Flight Attendants(客室乗務員)は、
Sir, please remove your headphones. We’re about to land.
Sir, please put away your laptop for take off.
と言うでしょう。
Make request の例としては、
Sir, could I take your coat ?
と声を掛けられるかもしれませんし、食事と時には、
Would you like chicken or fish ?
What do you like to drink ?
Would you like anything in your coffee ?
と尋ねられるでしょう。
また、離陸後から着陸までの間、Flight Attendants もしくは機長から機内放送による幾つかの案内があり、どうやら、メッセージの内容はほぼ、どの航空会社でも同じようです。
先ずは離陸前。
Good evening ladies and gentleman, welcome aboard Air Canada flight AC 42 en route to Delhi.
(en to = going to, headed to)
My name is Mark.
I’m your chief flight attendant today.
On behalf of Captain Baker and the whole crew, I want to welcome your aboard.
Our flying time today will be just over 13 hours and we will arrive at approximately 8:25 pm local time in Delhi.
We’ll be crusing at an altitude of 39,000 feet.
During flight, we’ll be offering a meal service shortly after take off and another light meal before arrival
At this time , make sure your seats backs and tray tables are in their full upright position and that your seat belt is correctly fastened.
Also, your portable electronic devices must be set to “airplane” mode until an announcement is made upon arrival.
Please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance at any time during the flight.
Right now, we kindly ask that your turn your attention to the safty video on the screen in front of you.
そして、離陸後は、
Ladies and gentleman, the captain has turned off the Fasten Seat Brlt sign, and you may now move around the cabin.
However we always recommend to keep your seat belt fastened while you’re seted.
目的地が近づくと、以下のメッセージがあり、もう直ぐ着陸することが分かります。
Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve begun our final decent into Delhi.
Please ensure seat backs and tray tables are in their full upright position.
Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened and carry-on luggage is stowed underneath the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins.
(overhead bins = 席の真上にある手荷物を入れる場所)

そして、着陸後のアナウンス
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Delhi where the local time is 8:34 p.m.
The temperature outside is 28 degree and cloudy.
For your safety and comfort, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened until the captain turns off the Fasten Seat Belt sign.
