英文法：”See” “Look” “Watch” のニュアンスの違いと適切な使い方

1. See
   
   何ら意図、目的や方角など意識しない、単なる “見る” という行為。
   
   見ている対象も何も意味を持たない。
   
   例文
   
   I saw John at school yesterday.
   
   日本語の “見かける” の意味に近い。
   
   I saw a good film yesterday.
   
   この場合、”watch” を使いところだが（後述）、”yesterday” があるように、既に過去の出来事であり完了したものであることから、”see” を使う。
   
   Kelly saw the doctor yesterday.
   
   この場合の “saw” は “visit” の意味を示している。
   
   He will see the director tomorrow.
   
   この場合の “saw” は “appointment” の意味を示している。
2. Look
   
   意識的に何か、或いは、ある方向を見る場合に使用。
   
   見ている物や人が特定されている場合に使う。
   
   例文
   
   Look ! It is snowing.
   
   Look at that strange man.
   
   He looked at himself in the mirror.
   
   We looked at each other and smiled.
3. Watch
   
   特定の物や人を意識的に見て、かつ、それが長時間動いている場合に使う。
   
   例えば、”テレビを見る” 場合、テレビの画面そのものは動いていないが、画面に映し出されている内容は動いている。
   （映画とかスポーツの試合等）
   
   例文
   
   I am watching the match.
   
   Watch the kittens, as they may run away.
   
   I watched the children playing at the park.

特殊な例外として、”see” と “look” は現在進行形で使わない。

“be seeing” や “be looking” は間違った使い方。
